Bradford White has been know to have one of the most reliable gas valves on the market. Every once in awhile we will get comment that a 10 year old Bradford White doesn’t put out much hot water. This can happen to a 10 year old tank when the dip tube breaks off. Another job we noticed that the hot and cold lines had been crossed by the original plumber.
The most common fix for a Bradford White is actually not the thermocouple but the thermal switch that is located outside the combustion chamber. In the picture below you can see a red button just below the text. If the pilot goes out on your Bradford White water heater you should first try and reset this switch by pushing it in. If you are unable to reset the thermal switch you should try to bypass the switch in order to test.
